Hello guys, :creamino linnie:
I have a couple of questions for you regarding items that may contain teflon.

I want to buy a lamp for my desk which is directly next to birdys cage. However I've read a ton of things claiming how either the mercury bulbs may be hazardous or some even are coated with teflon. And when heated... well thats not safe for our feathered friends. Do you guys recommend any birdy safe bulbs i can use on my desk with her cage being so close?

Also

Since I'm the picky one about what we use around birdy, my family has been asking me for a while to find a Toaster Oven that's safe to use if birdy is close by the kitchen. We don't use anything other then stainless steel cookware but I understand that an oven could just as well have teflon and be as dangerous as the non-stick pans. Do you guys have any recommendations?

I probably sound so paranoid about this stuff but when it comes to my birds health and well being I guess I kinda am. xD All help would be greatly appreciated.

edit: i realize now this might be the wrong section for this thread, I apologize for that. I haven't been on this forum for quite some time.

What should I look for in the packaging of the bulbs that would say something about this? o.o I wasn't aware something would be on it stating such things.

Also featherbrite seems like a birdy Full Spectrum Lighting. Would that work as a regular light for the desk? hehe

As for the toaster oven I'm starting to learn that the best way is to email the company manufacturer and ask. I'll update when I get a reply from them!
Thanks both! :)

Edit: Also I've been wanting to give a try to the earth pan regardless of its ratings. Is this the product that is safe for our birdy friends? http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Pan-Nonstick-Cookware-10-Inch/dp/B001GTKON2/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

So I contacted Hamilton Beach about one of their toaster ovens and this is the reply I got from them:

"Thank you for your email. We will be happy to assist you.

The model number you are inquiring about has no nonstick coating on any of the internal parts. The bake rack is chrome plated steel, the bake pan is Aluminized plated steel, and the crumb tray is galvanized steel.

Please let us knwo if we can assist you further.

Thank you for contacting Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc."

What do you guys think? Does it sound safe and should I get this toaster oven?

This is the product I asked about: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beac...appliances&ie=UTF8&qid=1391151640&sr=1-2&keywords=toaster+ovens+stainless+steel
