What can you tell me about this bird by looking at them.

Hi there! sorry for the 5 day late reply but here we go…

This to me looks like a white faced grey split with a cinnamon (explains the light brown x grey color/ unless it’s the lighting). Not sure if your bird is young but the pattern on your Tiel’s tail looks like a female, if it’s a male your bird will molt and lose any dots or stripes under it’s wings, tail, or torso over time. The eyes are rounded and not slightly flat at the top or almond shape so that also indicates a male. I see a mini wavy part on his/her flight feather that could be forming, might want to give things to him/her that have vitamin D and C maybe harness train and take your bird outside for vitamin D since it naturally comes from the sun. My Tiel has wavy feathers and I definitely don’t want you to make that same mistake. Hope this helps have a great day!

Have been thinking of replying to this in a while. You cockatiel is a male Whiteface Cinnamon (ghostly scalloping on the wings indicate he is split to pearl). I'd say he's had his first moult as he is showing adult markings. The wavy parts on the wings mentioned by Blossom are just in need of a preen, totally normal - at times I have even seen our cockatiels literally "un-preening" their tail feathers, its nothing to worry about. He is a really beautiful bird, is he tame or do you intend to breed him???
Hope this helps :)

It is a White-faced Cockatiel it looks like she is a female because there are little spots on the wing and tail (male is stripes) She looks a little bit underweight, help her like this:

  • Pellets: High-quality cockatiel pellets should make up at least 60-70% of their diet. They are nutrient-dense and help with weight gain.
  • Seeds: Offer a small portion of seeds, as they are high in fat and calories (e.g., sunflower seeds or millet).
  • Fresh foods: Incorporate healthy foods like:
    • Cooked whole grains (e.g., quinoa, oats, or brown rice).
    • Vegetables (e.g., sweet potatoes, carrots, and peas).
    • Fruits (e.g., apples, berries, and bananas) in moderation.
  • Nutrient-rich foods: Consider offering egg food or small amounts of plain, unsweetened almond butter for extra calories.

I have to correct you there, the white spots on the wing are due to the bird being split to pearl. The tail is also different looking due to the mutation. A female would show more grey on the face and depending on the mutation/age, males can show barred tails. Females also cannot be split to pearl, so the white wing spots wouldn't physically be possible in a female.
Also, about weight, he looks perfectly healthy. :D
