it's been 2 days i bought my cockatiel home.... he is just running around his cage... and sometimes he even shouts..... when it becomes night he just sleeps like everything is okay........ he is maybe 1 year old... the pet shop i bought him from didn't knew is actual age.... he was hand feeded but wasn't handelled by human after that...... he is not tamed....
my mom says maybe he is feeling lonely.......
he is afraid of my hand..... I didn't change his food or water.... and didn't clean the cage as he gets very scared when ever i approach my hand to his cage.....

but is it okay that he is always running in the cages on side to another side???
and what does he means by doing so??
what does he wants???

He's frustrated and wants to come out of the cage.
My Bod is only ever caged when we take her in the motorhome and she does it then.

I suppose it's difficult to let him out if not tame, they will go back in for food and water though so don't worry about having to catch him. You'll have to be very patient if you want to try and tame him at 1 year old, offer food and sit still, they are curious birds and always want to peck things. I remember holding some sweetcorn out for Bod when she was 3 months old for 45 minutes, thought my arm was going to drop off but eventually she put her foot on me and a few minutes later took the sweetcorn 🤩

Just give him seed inside the cage as normal but offer treats from your hand so he realises your hand is a nice place. Treats like millet, sweetcorn, dandelion flowers and leaves, peas, coriander, toast, even flour mine likes 🙄😆
Remember it will take ages, he'll be scared at first and won't come near you, but stay still and eventually he'll be curious 🥰

Thanks you so much for your advice.... It's been 7 days.... well his cage is next to my table and i am sitting and studying in my table for al day.... in the 1st 2-3 days he was even so afraid that i was sitting in front him..... as i said before i didn't clean his cage for 2days... then i cleaned it for the 1st time as normally he was very afraid and running around...... on the 4th day i kept the door of the cage open... after 6-7 min he came out and started flying around while freaking out too.... and i admit it was a bad mistake of mine as he is not tamed and it was only the 4th day of him being in this new environment.....at first he couldn't find any place and sat on top of my laptop for about 10 min but he was super afraid and always stared at my hand..... then he again started flying got a nice place for him on top of a 12f almirah..... he didn't came down for the whole day.... in night I put some seeds in my hand lift my arm up and showed him and inspired him to come.... he was trying to sit in my hand but as he was so afraid and couldn't trust my big fingers he just flew by and sat on top of the almirah.... he tried sitting on my hand for 10-12 times but couldn't trust..... as he was very hungry and tired of flying around whole day i couldn't help but catch him while flying and put him on his cage..... i was glad that he bite on my finger cause i was regrading so much that because of my fault he couldn't get to eat for a whole day..... he was very tired that day..... after that day i didn't disturb him and let him settle....And his cage is near a big window so when he sees birds flying around outside he starts shouting and running.... about this matter i think rather he didn't saw bird flying outside before maybe he was kept in cage after he was born or he wants to fly outside too....
As he gets super worked up when he sees birds outside that's why i kept the shutter down half so he couldn't see the sky.... or the window curtain on.... but my uncle who has a cockatiel he told me that tiels loved to kept in sunshine..... so today i kept he shutter on.....but he isn.t shouting too much,,,,, rather clam then before...... ALHAMDULILLAH for that.....And INSHA ALLAH today i will try offering him some millet from outside of his cage....I removed his food so he gets hungry and takes food from my hand... INSHA ALLAH i hope it works and the fear of his may ends soon....... Ameen....

Ohhh I named him COCO........😄

I bought a bird bath/shower for Bod, she is very weary of it, especially as the water pump makes a noise. The times I got it out, fill it with warm water, run the pump and put it away for her to totally ignore it 🙄 I know she was looking at it and wondering what it is 👀😆

She's just started getting in it for a short time now, Quick paddle and a drink and she gets out, it's progress though, I know she'll enjoy it eventually because she loves water.

Awwww, poor baby, he's scared. He is young, not tame and who knows how he might have been scared before you got him - people banging on his cage or talking loud. It takes time to get a bird to trust you. It is good to let him learn to associate your hand with something pleasant like a treat. Talk to him softly; you can whistle a tune and keep it simple and do it over and over - he might learn it and pick it up! Just remember, this will take TIME and can't be rushed. But once you earn his trust, it is a wonderful thing. If you keep him in the sun, make sure to provide an area of shade in case it gets too hot for him.
