Moya, that is an excellent set-up for your baby, he will love it! I have the exact same cage for one of my Green Cheek Conures and she loves it. I am getting the same cage for my Quaker Parrot, too. They are great cages with so much room!

Thanks for the reassurances about the cage. Since I took the picture, I lowered the food and water cups to the bottom of the cage, at the recommendation of the breeder. I'm wondering if I should keep Louie in a smaller, temporary cage until he gets adjusted to his new surroundings or just go ahead and put him in his permanent cage so he can start getting adjusted right away. I'm afraid he will be overwhelmed by the large cage at first. His temporary, weekend getaway cage is about 18 X 18 X 27. What do you think?

here's the huge updated cage since i combined c ages...

How did you weld them together? I am planning on getting another Tiel, and assuming both tiels get along well, I'd like to put the cages together. The new one I bought Opens up at the top, but stacking them doesn't seem too safe though I haven't tried it. If you've mentioned it before I haven't seen it, but I'm looking through now! :) Thanks for the help

its not welded, its secured with cotton twine for now until i figure out if they get along this time... once it is, its zip ties for the cage :) not easy to do lol

my stand also needs some adjustments as it keeps leaning if you simply move it lol

Jasper has a brand new cage! All of his toys weren't in it when I took the picture, so don't worry. :) I apologize for the blurry picture...I should really invest in a camera!

He took to his new cage MUCH faster than I suspected. He's usually such a scaredy bird that I thought I was gonna be spending hours coaxing him inside lol.

And for a review:
I'm not sure of the brand (terrible I know), but it's decent. There are some parts of the cage that I would worry about for smaller birds especially since they said it was ideal for parakeets, theres a large space by the food/water dishes that I wouldn't worry about for a cockatiel. Also all the bars don't match up properly. It opens up at the top which is great, but it seems dangerous to leave the top open, because one kept falling lol, unless one of the perches was supposed to hold the doors open. It was also very difficult to remove the cage off the base. I love the horizontal bars on the side too since it helps him climb. Otherwise, I'm happy and Jasper loves it too!

This is my cage. Like i said before i know its small but its only lasa and he spends most of the time out of the cage instead of in it (usually taking a ride on my head or sitting on the back of the couch).

That's a fine cage! I think we as bird parents need to give our birds the best that can we can provide for them, and as long as we love them and feed them and respect them, and give them all the sunflower seeds in the world (lol), they will be happy. If it came down to it, I'm sure all of our tiels would love an outdoor Aviary if it could be possible lol.

Ugh and I just like triple posted. I apologize. *runs away*

I just brought home Shelby (my first Cockatiel, and my first bird EVER) today. The breeder sold me this cage, and I bought a bunch of toys. This picture is in really bad light. I'll take better ones soon. What do you guys think, is it too small?

It looks good :) If you have to work or go to school for most of the day I think that bigger then 20X20X20 is better. It also looks like most people are remembering to use different perches, I think this is just as important as the size of the cage. Spike has 6 different perches in his cage a safety pumice perch a sandy perch a custom made plastic perch, manzanita, dragon wood and a really neat bendy wooden perch that I got at his breeders store. He also has a sisal boing and a dowel swing aswell. I got him this perch for Christmas https://www.healthybird.net/store/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=2796 Iam not sure where to put it in his cage yet.
Also don't forget the different kinds of toys, I like to have a noise toy (bell ect) forage toy (hidden food) destroy toys (paper, wood ect) in Spikes cage. In his cage he has 11 toys not including his boing. Spike's cage is 30 inches high, 23 inches deep and 31 inches wide so he is not crowded in toys, his bar spacing is 5/8th of an inch and I would not go any bigger than this bar spacing.
Here are some links with more information about toys and perches, which I think are just as important as the size of the cage :)

Thanks! The cage is 17x22x56 (including the stand). It's a lot wider than it looks in the photo.

We just started setting things up, so we don't have a bunch of toys yet. I have two different types of perches in there for him, two toys, and a swing, but I'm going to the store tomorrow to get some more perches.

That cage is perfect, especially for one Cockatiel!

I know a lot of people who keep Budgies and Cockatiels (not together) in the same cage and there is plenty of room, and the bar spacing is fine too.

From what site? I saw it under $900 on one earlier...im getting same one in the spring now ^^ ..what will you be using on the floor?

mjs6643: I really like that cage! Looks great.

I remeasured the pet room...no indoor aviary for us for now afterall...It will take up sooo much room,my other critters would be cramped! Itll have to wait til we build a piece on our home.

Thinking I should look into a nice double cage option.
