haha! I like your cage setup. I just added more perches for Lulu in he cage and she is running and climbing the walls and trying to hang and swing from her toys (that's a new development). She can't seem to figure out how to use the perch in the cage that leads to the outside though. I want to help her.. but my boyfriend is like "let her figure out out for herself".

 

What sort of perch leads to the outside?

 

I bent the heck out of a rope perch and put it so she can walk from the inside to the outside. What else would you suggest?

 

So you keep the cage door open? I'm just trying to visualize it, LOL. I have no suggestions except that she will probably get used to everything on her own if you just give her time. Clementine is always terrified of new things and the first two days in her new cage she had trouble swinging around from outside to inside the cage, etc., but she got over it pretty quick and now she swings around like she owns the place! Which, I guess, she does!

 

Exactly! Today is one week that she's been in it and everyday she goes and learns how to do something new. Clementine and Lulu have similar cages.

She will learn that there is a way to get out. She's smart.

Clementine used to have a small cage with a drawbridge-type door that turned into a platform when opened and she would come out and sit on it, and we called it "her front porch". We were worried about her losing her front porch, but now she just comes out and climbs up to the top of her cage. I love that the top of the cage is the perfect height that I can walk up and rest my chin on it and she can run over for a quickie kiss or cuddle.

 

I am still working on training her. She hasn't been on top of this new cage yet. It's hard enough for me to try and get her to step up, but things have been better. My point.. she's gunna figure out how to use this perch and come out. In her old cage she would just flutter out. She didn't even climb to the top of the cage. She didn't really do much of anything actually.

 

Sounds like the new cage will be just what she needs!

 

Where do you guys get the long bendable ropes that make a spiral staircase for the birdies? I have looked everywhere and cannot find one near me that won't cost $8 shipping. I want one so bad! Is sisal better than cotton? With or without a wire?

I will be getting my baby in 4 weeks and this is the cage I have provisionally bought for him. Do you think it will be ok size wise as it is a parrot cage?

I am doing the same, i've found some great items on zooplus but i am skint this month so have to wait till next month can't wait to start birdy shopping

 

This is the one I have ordered for my very first tiel. It is the same one that I keep my 2 budgies in. I like that it's so big, plenty of room. I should receive it in the next couple of days so will be able to kit it out with toys etc. For those of you in Oz, this was only $74 all up with shipping...great price I thought!!

lol we are. When i went to the local pet store the rope perchs where £7.99 and boings £12.99 my first parcel for my little birdies is on the van for delivary so excited lol Papitos stuff will be here next week woot i love getting new pet stuff lol:blush:

This is Osti and Banjo's Cage, it sits right beside me and when the cats are in ..... and my babies have to go in the cage I can keep talking to them. They enjoy playing with all there toys

 

This is Baileys cage. Shes been in it for about 5 months and she loves it. =] Although she is very protective of her cage and i think it has something to do with being a "petco bird". :hmm:

 

That is a pretty cage You just have to be carefull with the design at the top and bottom. Birds can get leg band/feet stuck in there sometimes
