Mythara- Gosh.. bet your birds have a BALL in those cages! They look awesome!

Seaofdreams- Looks like a fairly decent sized cage you've got there! You may have already thought of this, but ill say it just in case- when you can, ditch the dowel and replace it with natural branches or rope perches.. or something of a similar sort :) Just to keep their feet healthy. And I know that toys are on the way :D Because its quite a tall cage my only other suggestion is to put some toys and foraging things down the bottom to encourage them to use the whole cage, not just the top like most birds!

It looks like a cool cage though! Did you buy it new or second hand somewhere?

I was gonna get that cage (without the stand) but I thought.. 11 'tiels no way. But looking at it with yours in there, it doesn't look too bad after all. Not that the 'tiels current cage is too small. :p

It'll look perfect with toys and that in it. It's exciting to get a new cage; especially when you get to set it up - they'll have tons of fun in there and they'll get to spend time with you now too which is a bonus for you and the 'tiels.

Hope to see some photos when you've got everything in and setup. :D

It is hard to judge how many tiels can go in a cage without actually seeing them in it! When i got the boys first cage I thought it was amazing.. and would fit two tiels no worries (although at the time it was only bought for one tiel) but nope.. twas too small!

I'd never have thought 8 could fit in that cage either (let alone 11), but it doesnt look cramped at all really! And when they get used to it more there will be some at the bottom, middle and top- a much bigger spread.

I know, I have the old perches from the aviary but I want fresh ones to go with the shiny new cage. I get odd looks when I go down to the walking track where I usually get my melaleuca branches so I need to go at night, hahaha.
The cage is brand new, I have a thing about second hand cages. It was pretty reasonably priced too.

It looks much larger in person, they all fit quite well but I wouldn't push it past 10 birds. When they start using the lower parts of the cage, it will be better, all of them sitting at the top makes it seem smaller.
I'm looking forward to being able to get some toy making underway. I used to make toys for my budgies (which was almost 8 years ago now, haha) so I've got some ideas lined up. I just have to wait for some funds, it's hard treating the birds and my lovely puppy like the royalty they think they are on a paupers budget, hahaha.

yea spike likes but your lucky yours doesent have the feeder doors spike figured out how to open them and now there all locked cause i cant keep comming home and seeing spike sitting on the kitchen table yelling at the dogs lol ... i love your cage

Seaofdreams: That looks much better :D Very awesome! Bet the tiels love the natural branches in there, and the toys look great too!

Zukesss: Haha thats so funny! I can imagine walking through the front door and seeing spike screaming at the dogs- it would be hilarious.. but not good nonetheless :p They are smart little things arent they!

Her current cage; a bit small but she doesn't mind.

My wonderful fiance is going to build her a 36'' 36'' by 24'' cage in the next few weeks, which I think she's going to love.
 Post photos when its done :) As long as she gets out alot in her current cage Iam sure she won't mind until she gets a bigger one. Just two things I noticed her name tag, its cute but I don't think I would let her play with it as it might not be a safe metal. Also the millet holder is neat but I have heard of budgies getting their heads stuck in them before. I like to use a clip and just clip my millet in the cage :)

The only part of the tag that is metal is what holds it to the rest of the toy, which is a safe metal, the tag itself is a hard plastic that she can't chew through.

And as for the millet holder, she's scared of it, and it was removed earlier today, so no worries about it.

Cage set up. I finally moved the tiels in together so here are some pics.

The cage has 5 perches, a boing (sp?), two ladders, two food dishes, two foraging trays, all kinds of toys, mostly shredable and foraging. I can never remember the actual measurements, I should measure it soon but I believe its somewhere around 38in high x33 wide x22 deep

Both cages are 60" x 32" x 24"

First cage also has a full-spectrum mercury-vapour sunlight bulb above it...the other cage will have one soon.
