I'd love to see what type of cage or aviary you have for your cockatiels! It would be helpful to people looking to set up a cage for a new tiel too! :D

This is mine, it's dimensions are 18"d x 30"w x 33"h.

I have Cookie and Bailee in it and they seem to have lots of space, so both them and me are very happy with it.:)

Wow, awesome cages and set-ups!

Cheeky, you could easily put another 2 in there and still have room, that's a mighty big cage and looks lovely, hope they're enjoying it as much as we love looking at it. :p

Thanks Solace :D I think they are enjoying it so far. I ended up replacing those white feeder things with some large round seed bowls, as I just wasnt happy with the way they were.. it was hard for the birds to sit properly on the edge (more made for little budgie feet!) and also annoying to clean and refill.

The new bowls are much better though, and I got an extra one for when little Pickles joins them. The cage looks like a bowl mansion now because I think there are now 4 in there- all different sizes! LOL. One water, 2 seed and 1 pellet.

I just picked up my first cockatiel cage ever. I've only ever had my tiels in an aviary so this is certainly an adventure. I'm so excited to make some toys to put in, the only "toys" they have had are natural branches with bark and leaves to destroy and the occasional rope or wood toy. This also means more inside play time with me ^_^ They've been in for a few hours and are still getting settled in, a little distraction in the form of millet didn't hurt either, haha.

Mythara- Gosh.. bet your birds have a BALL in those cages! They look awesome!

Seaofdreams- Looks like a fairly decent sized cage you've got there! You may have already thought of this, but ill say it just in case- when you can, ditch the dowel and replace it with natural branches or rope perches.. or something of a similar sort :) Just to keep their feet healthy. And I know that toys are on the way :D Because its quite a tall cage my only other suggestion is to put some toys and foraging things down the bottom to encourage them to use the whole cage, not just the top like most birds!

It looks like a cool cage though! Did you buy it new or second hand somewhere?

I know, I have the old perches from the aviary but I want fresh ones to go with the shiny new cage. I get odd looks when I go down to the walking track where I usually get my melaleuca branches so I need to go at night, hahaha.
The cage is brand new, I have a thing about second hand cages. It was pretty reasonably priced too.

I was gonna get that cage (without the stand) but I thought.. 11 'tiels no way. But looking at it with yours in there, it doesn't look too bad after all. Not that the 'tiels current cage is too small. :p

It'll look perfect with toys and that in it. It's exciting to get a new cage; especially when you get to set it up - they'll have tons of fun in there and they'll get to spend time with you now too which is a bonus for you and the 'tiels.

Hope to see some photos when you've got everything in and setup. :D

It looks much larger in person, they all fit quite well but I wouldn't push it past 10 birds. When they start using the lower parts of the cage, it will be better, all of them sitting at the top makes it seem smaller.
I'm looking forward to being able to get some toy making underway. I used to make toys for my budgies (which was almost 8 years ago now, haha) so I've got some ideas lined up. I just have to wait for some funds, it's hard treating the birds and my lovely puppy like the royalty they think they are on a paupers budget, hahaha.

It is hard to judge how many tiels can go in a cage without actually seeing them in it! When i got the boys first cage I thought it was amazing.. and would fit two tiels no worries (although at the time it was only bought for one tiel) but nope.. twas too small!

I'd never have thought 8 could fit in that cage either (let alone 11), but it doesnt look cramped at all really! And when they get used to it more there will be some at the bottom, middle and top- a much bigger spread.

Seaofdreams: That looks much better :D Very awesome! Bet the tiels love the natural branches in there, and the toys look great too!

Zukesss: Haha thats so funny! I can imagine walking through the front door and seeing spike screaming at the dogs- it would be hilarious.. but not good nonetheless :p They are smart little things arent they!

Her current cage; a bit small but she doesn't mind.

My wonderful fiance is going to build her a 36'' 36'' by 24'' cage in the next few weeks, which I think she's going to love.
 Post photos when its done :) As long as she gets out alot in her current cage Iam sure she won't mind until she gets a bigger one. Just two things I noticed her name tag, its cute but I don't think I would let her play with it as it might not be a safe metal. Also the millet holder is neat but I have heard of budgies getting their heads stuck in them before. I like to use a clip and just clip my millet in the cage :)

The cage has 5 perches, a boing (sp?), two ladders, two food dishes, two foraging trays, all kinds of toys, mostly shredable and foraging. I can never remember the actual measurements, I should measure it soon but I believe its somewhere around 38in high x33 wide x22 deep

Both cages are 60" x 32" x 24"

First cage also has a full-spectrum mercury-vapour sunlight bulb above it...the other cage will have one soon.

Hi Everyone, some fantastic cages, mine looks a little bare in comparison, but I do rotate toys around, the dimensions of Tira’s home are 16” wide 22” front length and 31” high, (not including stand).

I know after looking up cage sizes it is on the small side for a Tiel, but Tira seems happy and does come out a lot anyway, what I do love is the draw bridge type door, it is great for Tira to get in and out and you can see her easily swinging herself out the cage and on the door.

Tira looks happy with her cage :) Just a few suggestions though I would definitely get her some more different kinds of perches to help excersise her feet. Iam not saying that these are the different kinds you should get but Spike has a dragonwood perch, a manzantia perch, a custom made plastic perch that looks like wood which goes from one side of the cage to the other, a dowel swing, a sisal boing, a sandy perch, a safety pumice perch and a natural bird safe wood perch that is different sizes complete with knots for chewing. I also plan on getting him a 1 inch diameter hard wood perch. Here is an interesting link about perches http://www.birdchannel.com/bird-housing/bird-housing-accessories/bird-perch-types.aspx
I would also see if you can put in a few more toys in of different types. Spike has in his cage at the moment a noise toys (bells) shredder toys (balsa wood ect) a forage toy (millet hidden inside) a swing and a boing which double as perches as well as fun for Spike. Here is a link on different kinds of toys http://www.birdchannel.com/bird-housing/bird-toys/toys-play-groups.aspx As you can tell Spike is spoiled :p I hope this helps :)

I finally got around to getting some pics of my tiels new cage (the former rat cage)
I know there are not many toys in there, none at all tbh, but my birds have no intrest in them, so i dont bother to waste money on something they will never use :p

All there perches (apart from the yellow and pink one which are calcium or something and the per store perch which Buddy loves) are natural and found fallen from gun trees down the road.

And of course, Birdies only friend, himself in the mirror :p

OH and this was just before i cleaned the whole cage, hehe so excuse the mess

Hi Spike, thanks for the advise, I will look into getting her some different perches, I am looking at getting her a boing after reading on the forums that other peoples Tiels really love them, and a sand perch for her nails, but when she first arrived home her wing was clipped so severe that she had no ability to get from perch to perch without being able to reach each one, so I ended up putting quite a few in, and in different directions just so that she can get around ok, she is getting more confident now that the wing is growing through, but does get upset if I try to encourage her to much to leap for it, although I think she as the ability now, its also probably not visible from the pictures but the two perches going across the front width are in fact larger than the ones going width way in there, and they are all wood and not plastic perches, toys I have loads for her, I just prefer to rotate them rather than put to many in, like I said her cage isn’t the largest so have to be careful I don’t overcrowd the space she has got, of course if she didn’t need so many perches that would help, lol, she has got a natural wood and rope toy, but she seems to prefer the plastic toys, she seems to like bells and things with moving parts lol, I do put the wood one in from time to time but she hardly touches it.
