I'd love to see what type of cage or aviary you have for your cockatiels! It would be helpful to people looking to set up a cage for a new tiel too! :D

This is mine, it's dimensions are 18"d x 30"w x 33"h.

I have Cookie and Bailee in it and they seem to have lots of space, so both them and me are very happy with it.:)

I can get them on the scales, Sherbie is easy to weigh as she doesn't really move much, but I am in the process of making a perch with a base that sits on the scales, so I can put the perch on the scales, zero it down and then sit the bird on the perch! They don't know they are getting weighed then! I suspect Sherbie would be a little embarrassed about her weight - she is 70gm!!!

Pichu, Monkey, and Sunny's Cage

The two first pictures are of their old cages. The tall purple cage  was Pichu's and it was all rusty. The white one hanging from a cage stand I bought it with Monkey so I could put them both together (once the quarintine was over) BUT Sunny appeared in our yard and hubby decided to get them a bigger cage so they could be all housed together. We bought it at a bird store (out of the road) for $100 I haven't seen it online but again...I live in a US Caribbean island and sometimes it feels as if it was a barren island :( It's super easy to clean and they have plenty of room to play. On the bottom of the cage I placed a piece of trunk so they could stand on it when eating seeds and the skin of the trunk to put the seeds in so they could "forage". The pellets are higher up, millet is offered everyday but only from our hands.

My Teallie looks fat but I can't weight him cos he wont allow me to touch him and i'd rather not lol the cage is open everyday for the birds to come out for there usual flying games, but Teallie after he gets his toast goes back in the cage and watches the other 2,he will fly tothe door and back again about once but he doesn't fly much

Aviary

My Aviary at the moment, i normally change it in the winter as the nest boxes come out and ther eis more room. also looking at opening up the metal aviary on a more perminant basis and setting that up for the fledglings and youngsters who are too young to breed.

The main aviary has budgies and cockatiels in together but only the cockatiels want to breed (Budgies just have nest boxes in so they dont feel left out but they just ignore them!).

the metal aviary is what we put them in when the wooden one collapsed and we also will set it up for the quarentine/slow intergration or introduction cage so they kind of know who is coming before they go into the aviary.

There is one picture of the whole wooden one, one of the left side, one of the right and one metal one. The wooden one in in a ""U" shape so that they can fly between the two halves.

Wooden one is 6 ft high, 6 ft deep and 8 foot wide and has a middle pattern to form the "U" shape whcih goes in about 4 foot and helps support the roof. and the metal one is about 3 foot wide, 6 foot high and about 9 foot deep.

There is lots of natural wood mainly apple wood from out many fruit trees in the garden.

I rearranged the 'tiels cages last night - there's a heap more room in each one now. I just need to add more toys and it'll be done.

Here is their OLD set-up

Ah see i've got 3 nosy kitties so I would have to have it elevated like my budgies cages (2 cages).
But since i'm going to be installing doors in that room so the budgies can once again roam outside of the cages then it might work. :)

But overall what are the pros/cons? Thanks :)

Is it too low to the ground? I know i'm asking a lot of questions -- I just want it to be perfect for the little guy. I've got cats and my other cages are elevated.

I really don't know good web-sites to order/buy from so I think that one is pretty good?

I don't think it is. :) If you keep it in another room where no 4-legged animals can get to it then I don't see you having any problem what-so-ever with it.

If worse comes to worse and you can't put the cage in another room, you can take the cage off of the stand it's on and put the actual cage on a *high* table.

See most of the rooms on the main level of our house are open rooms, no doors. Which is a problem because if I put the birds in a room with doors that means they will be farther away from my family activity and might be all alone back there. obviously there is a room avalible I just am worried its too far away for my budgies to feel like part of the family.

I don't have them in seperate compartments anymore, but when I did there was always newspaper on the top half & bottom half.

If you have other birds in with the budgies it won't be so bad. Company of other birds helps prevent them from getting depressed/loneliness.

Also, (I don't know if you do or not) if you go in and spend time with them then it'll be even better.

There's tons of room, the only bad thing about the cage is that the bar spacing is far too big, otherwise it'd be perfect.

Your set up looks good! we have the same rope perch. :p
