I'd love to see what type of cage or aviary you have for your cockatiels! It would be helpful to people looking to set up a cage for a new tiel too! :D

This is mine, it's dimensions are 18"d x 30"w x 33"h.

I have Cookie and Bailee in it and they seem to have lots of space, so both them and me are very happy with it.:)

I love seeing cages, especially of spoiled fids!

This is the thread I hunted for first, before i joined the board... so I thought it only fitting if I added Holly & Meena's cage to it too.

Its the HQ Flight 13221 (from birdscomfort.com) that a lot of other tiel owners have, in the bronze color.

(older setup)

(how it was this morning... I've already changed it AGAIN!)

This is what I started with when I first got Holly.... and what I immediately upgraded from because 15.5in deep is WAY too narrow & messed up Holly's tail... but I still have it as a backup. See how the end of her tail is all yucky though:

Thank you to EVERYONE that posted a pic in this thread.

ETA:
Meena hit 5mo & we figured out she was a HE... so I had to split them up. Bought 2 new A&E 702 cages which turned into a big fiasco over bar spacing; Sold the Flight cage; settled on two of these teardrops from Petco. 21x25. My fids seem happy, so I'm happy.

I really like that they both fit perfectly on the 4ft X 2ft adjustable height, folding table I found at Sams for only $30!

ALSO:
For anyone Considering the A&E 702 cage... I bought 2 of them that shipped directly from A&E.. the bar spacing along the top part is 7/8in wide; NOT suitable for tiels. It's also advertised as 18x22, but in actuality its 16x22. The front door is a freaking Nightmare to use too... I see this cage a suitable SLEEP cage for the smaller too's or something. Nothing else.
 I still haven't received my refund either.

i just got this same exact cage(last pic) for $60 It was advertised two inches bigger on each side but it is the same size u mentioned. I dont mind. I paid half as much as if i would pay online somewhere. Th only downside is the stand. I wish it was a feet or two smaller. With the stand it make it soo tall. Oh well.

Ill be keeping up to two tiels in there but for right now only one.

Uki's New Cage

I finally got sick of the old cage because it messed up Uki's tail feathers too much. I just purchased a new cage for her the other day from a local pet store, its shaped like a two storey house complete with an attic and comes with a solid wooden stand. I got a stand that was wider than the cage so her playground can be set up beside it. (Spoilt Bird). It also comes with a new set of about seven perspex toys and wooden perches and ladders. :). I'm pretty sure she'll be happy with it.

I'll post photos up soon. :)

Wow, you're cages all look great! Well, the ones I saw did at least - i didn't go through all the 48 pages lol :p

This is Mowgli's cage:

Image

The birds all have separate cages - Mowgli is much more of a people's bird than a bird's bird so I don't think she'd like to share her cage.

it is a HQ copy Cat cage. 1/2" bar spacing. Great for many birds. None of my cages g above 5/8" and i'm not even sure if thats the size on skittles cage. Hard to see in that picture but this is a better picture. Chester and hugs share it but they don't always get along so i sometimes stick hugs in with the budgies as he loves them.

Very Snazzy and a birdy room too!
are the cages Montana ones?
The blue double flight is a HQ cage, The single flight is a cppy Cat HQ and Skittles cage i'm not really sure. Its from pet cetera which is now closing down and had pet cetera as a lable on the box. Loves skittles cage though.

Thats a shame Spike when did you order it?
it's a shame that www.zooplus.co.uk wont ship to you peeps across there,
there dead quick and have very good Customer service I had my Montana Cage for 2 months approx and it fell to bits and they replaced it in a nick of time ;)

I did not get to order it yet. The store said they would be in soon and when I called they said it was going to be a few more months. So it should be in by September but it has been a long wait it was suppose to be for Spikes 2nd bday on May first. Iam not going to be a happy camper if it is not in by Sept. Thanks for the links but Iam not in the States so I think shipping might be a bit expensive.

This is little Cocky in his cage. I sometimes worry the cage might be too small (especially because it did and should soon house a second bird). I don't like having mirrors in the cage, but the little ones seem to do no harm and have a bell at the bottom, and the large one is in there as I thought it might be a little comforting.

There is meant to be a natural perch in there but the apple wood branch I have has too many sharp bits (my brother's borrowed my hacksaw so I can't take them off yet), and I've found a perfect little branch outside but I want to find out what it is and clean it thoroughly before I put it in.

What I'd really like to do is take a bookcase I have and get some well-spaced horizontal wire I can put around it and build my own cage. A cheap alternative to buying a big cage, plus lots of platforms for toys and lots of space to have fun in.

Emi, I would see if you could get a bigger cage when you get another tiel :) You will need to have the new tiel in another cage for quarantine anyway http://www.birdchannel.com/images/a...om/images/articles/bird-magazine-exclusives/2009-april/quarantine-checklist.pdf Also is there a cup missing? I see a square space, I would cover it up if you have not already. As for an apple wood perch I always thought it was not a good wood for perches but then I have seen them for chew toys for rabbits ect.

Yeah it's an empty space which confuses me. It looks like it was previously used but there was nothing that went with it when I was given it. For the moment it's alright because my bird's cagebound and wouldn't dare go near a gap like that, but for a new bird I'd need to find something. I've tried with whatever various objects I can find but none of them really work. (I guess I could always put the food tray over it but right now I think that'll just confuse my bird who's already been through enough the past few weeks)

I was hoping it wouldn't be too small as I'm intending for there to be lots of outside time. A few hours every day at least.

#493 ·
If you can build another cage a bit bigger then the cage you have now, take the side off the current cage and join the other cage onto it, it'll be big enough for two.

#494 ·
If you have a tupperware/gladware/plastic container of some kind you could cut it up into a piece big enough to cover the hole... punch holes in each corner & tie it on to the cage to cover the hole.

Thats only a temp fix though.

@ Emi,

your cage looks like the one I had but mine has a Stand!
the space which you say is for Feeders there ones that attach to the cage outside it!

I wouldn't recommend adding another bird in that cage it is too small I had to put my both my birds in it whilst I was awaiting on a replacement montana cage which took a week, I really recommend that you invest in a bigger cage if your planning on getting a second Tiel ;)

The photo is of my Bird Teallie he was given to me in that cage like yours and was always up and down the bars like he was telling me to get him out of there lol

Thought I would share with you pics of my fids cages, this weekend I completely redecorated and made some new perches and bought some ladders. I think it looks pretty good, I would be happy if I was a tiel! They seem to like it a lot better than their last set up, the are getting around a lot more then they did! It looks better in real life then the pictures show, I'm not overly good at capturing images.

This is my fat budgies 'diet cage!' I am introducing captive foraging and controlled portion sizes to make them work for their food, along side 2 exercise sessions per day! Bobbie the white one wants out!

Just an awww pic I took of Leo while I was photographing their cage!

Yay! Foraging is great for your birds. IMO it's the best thing you can teach them. :D The cages look great. I love all the natural perches you've got. :)
