I'd love to see what type of cage or aviary you have for your cockatiels! It would be helpful to people looking to set up a cage for a new tiel too! :D

This is mine, it's dimensions are 18"d x 30"w x 33"h.

I have Cookie and Bailee in it and they seem to have lots of space, so both them and me are very happy with it.:)

Well, we just moved, and we were forced to downsize our bird cage. They DID have this:

And I loved it. They loved it, my honey loved it... but our apartment... didn't. We'dve had to remove the entire jam off the spare bedroom to get it through. We briefly toyed with the idea of cutting the cage in half and removing 2 inches from each bar... Eric knows how to weld, and he's pretty handy at it... but we decided it would be too much individual measuring. that's a LOT of bars to tack back together! lol

Instead i posted on Craigslist.org looking to trade or sell it. I got back with a lovely trade from a gal almost almost an hour away from me. She's got an african gray that she wanted to get a larger cage for! So here's what we got....

And in clockwise order, starting with the Litino...
Cousteau, Angel, Boomer, Birdie, Martha, Tally & Sammy

Sorry to hear that you had to downgrade. The new cage is pretty small for all of them. Also, I'm a bit worried about the open spaces at the bottom...not sure why it's like that or if it's because you decided to remove the grate and add hay. I think we mentioned to you that hay will be considered as breeding material and that's the last thing you need now since you had to downgrade. Hope you don't take it the wrong way but hopefully you decide to put the grate back in atleast. Also, add a few more perches..there doesn't look like much room for them to decide where they want to be.

We just got settled in after the move, and i'm still unpacking. I discovered their other perches, just haven't added them all yet. There are 4 in the cage right now (one is very long, from the old cage) and a swing. I'll also be adding more toys, but we've still got packed boxes everywhere and all my toy supplies are kind of at the bottom of it. They do have 8 toys though right now. I'm just used to more.

There is no hay in the new cage. The dish in the other picture does have hay in it, but it's not left in there all the time. They like digging in it and chewing on it, so I see no harm in letting them play with it every now and then. But no, it's not in the cage all the time. It's just another one of their treats :)

The spaces on which cage? The green one? Because the space on the front (where the grate would be) isn't as big as it looks. But I"m guessing you're thinking of the HUGE one in the back? Yeah. It's pretty big. I did take the grate out. I hate cleaning it, and i see little purpose to it. Not like the grate keeps them away from poops. the poops stick to the grate! :p But that hole is backed with plexi-glass.

Cousteau & Sammy are still very much a pair, and we're still doing reading on the idea of giving them a box. I own a box, grandpa made one when I told him about the pair, but not to worry, as I've got my original cage still that I would put them into. But as of now, that's still on hold, and no nesting materials are in the cage. ;)

Our new cage!

Here is a pic of Squiggles' and Gizmo's new cage. It took them a bit of time to get used to it and were very clumsy in the beginning, but they've got the hang of it now. I like this cage because all the bars are horizontal which makes it much easier for them to climb to where they want to go. I have since taken out the grid and put paper in the bottom (which I don't like - the grid, that is - because I'm always worried they'll break a leg or something), and they just love pottering around at the bottom, too.

This is them peeping out with the top open.

LOL that's right..

He'll get used to it.. but mine weren't afraid of the rope, they get frightened of new toys that don't really interest them at first but I'll find later they've rip the new toys apart.

i saw a lot of wounderfull set ups so far .. and other not so wounderful :S ... but i was woundering, i know how to set up a budgie cage and my budgies are very happy (full of toys, spaces, perch of different size and shape and feel, treats hiding everywhere in the cage and playgym outside the cage with jungle like ropes hunging on top of their cage !!!

but for a cockatiel ... do they need a special kind of metal ? do they have a stronger beak? ... as for the hide out .. do they like tants as much as budgies ?

ZooPlus has Montana cages I think theres a French site too, ive seen the German one so I reckon there must be a french one ;)

there pretty quick with the delivery and use DHL for delivery :)
since ive bought this cage my 2 Birds don't want to come out of it,
but they have to have a bath so I usually get bitten by Teallie the most and his bite is agony lol

btw get one of these Montana cages there great value and there easy to clean out everyday just wish I could find something for my living room floor now lmao!

Ps, Ive never kept any budgies ive been offered to re-home a African Grey Parrot
but im un-decided of it yet, btw there are certain cages you have to watch when buying like the coated ones,

How many birds are you having?
Just Remember Bigger is better cos it gives the bird(s)
the space they need to fly about and stretch!

Thats abit odd then how I didn't get the bottom wooden perch,
the top one ive got fits across nicely it's abit of a rigmarole to put it up though but once it is both my birds are up there preening one another lol
