Hi, my name is steven. I am recently new to your site but not to cockatiels.
I had a Normal(grey) male cockatiel when i was growing up it was hand reared from a baby and was lovely, i no longer have any pictures tho:(

I recently bought two lovely new cockatiels, One wich i assume to be a male silver & the other to be a female Pearl, have had them about a week now, the female pearl came with a few tail feathers missing & look like they have been neglected and i just had to buy them because i couldnt walk away knowing they was like that, Now she has lost/broke all of her tail feathers but shes starting to look abit more healthy. The male silver seems to be in better shape.

I think they was aviary birds but i am looking to train them up so they can fly free around the household. I have no idea how old they both are but i wouldnt say there very old.

If u have any suggestions to there not the breeds/sex to what i think they are please feel free to help me out:)

Anyway enough talk ill upload a few pictures of these beautiful birds:love:

Hi, and welcome to the forum....we have several members from the UK

The female is a pearl, and the other bird is a cinnamon split to pied.

An FYI....broken tail feathers are not a sure sign of neglect. They can occur if the caging is too small. or if in a good sized caging, something scaring the bird to cause a panicked thrashing in the cage.

Thanks for all the comments:) i was just unsure with the male, in the pictures he looks quite dark, but he is really light grey almost like silver, my old cinnamon was much darker. So its a cinnamon/pied?
Many thanks, Steve:)

Hi Steven welcome to the forum.

I would definately take heed of srtiels advice on the cage. I see that one is round which is bad news for birds, the bars look pretty wide as well. Would be worth looking out for a new cage or even a decent second hand one. I recently bought a huge second hand cage that I wouldn't have been able to afford from new.

I am going to get a new cage for them when the right one comes along. Most around here are far too small, the one there in has average sized bars that you would find with most ages the pictures just make them look big from the focusing and zoom. I'm going to a local bird auction during the week hope to find a large cage or a indoor aviary.

I accept all of your criticism positively:)
Many thanks,
Steve

I've put them in a breeding box, put some nesting material in but don't know what's best for them? Bailey hasn't been in it yet she just climbs ontop of it aha! Put some millet near the opening they went on the perch eat it then flew off Lol;p
