Your bird is a Pearl Pied, very pretty!
Unfortunately, the pearl and pied gene both look the same in males and females, so the gender is impossible to tell visually. However, observing the behaviour of your bird can give you the answer. Males are usually more outgoing than females and will sing a lot, combined with beak tapping and posing. Females are generally quieter and will keep themselves to themselves most of the time. However, for both, there are exceptions.

 

Thank you for the info! Also is there a way to tell age? I was told he/she is a year old.

 

There's not really many ways to tell a cockatiel's age, but he/she could be a 1yr old.
