Hello everyone,
I have just recently picked up a Cockatiel from my friends house
the Cockatiel is nearly 8 years old, it has been in an Avery for 6 years
but surprisingly he is very friendly and keen to come out of the cage
and hang around the family, but his feet look a bit strange, his claws
stick out sideways instead of straight and he seems to get no grip when he is climbing, but other times his claws get stuck in clothing. It doesn't seem to worry him though, squeak is still his happy little self. :grey tiel:
I have attached a photo of him, which you can see his funny feet.

aww poor guy :( that is definitely an issue, but something that he could have possibly had from birth (poor genetics or vitamin deficiency). He seems to be in good feather from what I can see in those pictures. Is he able to grip perches and climb around? is his leg swollen under the leg band? you can trim the tips of his nails with a nail clipper, have someone hold him with a towel and another person clip those tips, just the very tips so you don't cut the quick, it will bleed.

Hmm, I think i worry about it more then he does :p, he occasionally falls of his perch when you are moving his cage but he just gets back up starts whistling and goes back to his happy little self :) when he is on your shoulder he does a bit of flapping, but i think this is because his claws are stuck in my jumper. They aren't puffed up at so that's a good sign :)

I finally got a photo of his foot properly, every time he sees a camera he gets excited and starts running around :grey tiel: :p
The box was chewed by my old bird btw :)
