Well, I have Snitch much more friendly now. No biting, and steps up. Yea!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have another problem. Piper isn't talking. He did on the way home so positive he's a he and can talk. I think it's because Snitch is a Hen. I have tried putting Snitch outside in the sun...they just called each other. I don't have a lot of room to move cages around. They are in separate cages. I long to hear Piper talk. I visited my fav. small privately owned (not any chain) pet shop. We are talking about making a trade...Snitch for a male bird, cockatiel or budgie . I don't want to breed anyway. I think perhaps I would be better off with another male. Next spring Snitch will probably start laying eggs. Would I be a bad person to let Snitch go? Opinions are most welcome please.

I would not trade Snitch in for another bird. Female tiels are great pets aswell. Piper may not be comfortable enough to talk right now, also he may not be a big talker. There are also ways to prevent egg laying for Snitch.

Wow. Does it really matter if they talk or not? Not all of them will talk and it might just take some time for him to settle in. I personally don't think you should get rid of the hen just so the male talks.

Also it sounds like he's grown attached to her. The way that they call to each other!

Dooby still talks, even though Daisy is with him. She just screams a bit, but he talks. I don't quite understand what you mean, did Piper talk before you had Snitch? If so, he will talk again. Dooby does both now, he screams with Daisy and talks with me, he's bi-lingual

One of the first things most forums say to people is don't get a bird because you want it to talk, not all birds talk and even the ones that do may not talk often. I wouldn't trade Snitch in the hope that Piper will start talking, it might not even work and then you would feel bad for getting rid of his friend.

Well, this is just something to think about. Not happening right away. Just to keep the order of things... Snitch was given to me by a friend whose family was allergic. I thought I was getting a male. They told me from the day it came home it was a male. Immaterial, I know. Then I got Piper because I liked him. He talked alone in the car when I brought him home. They are not exactly "friends". They are in separate cages. Talking of course is a plus.
