It's hard to tell because she won't let me look closely, but it seems like my bird Lucy has one or more old, raggedy feathers on the underside of her wings. I don't know exactly how to describe it - it's almost like there is a bald patch partway along the shaft. She chews on that area when preening, but she hasn't pulled the feather(s) out. Is there any harm to leaving things alone, or will this prevent new feathers from growing in?

Those feathers will fall out on their own. No need to pull out feathers. That just causes unnecessary pain.

Well, no sooner did I post this, than 1 of the feathers in question fell out! I was able to get a slightly better look, and there is still at least 1 hanging on that needs to come out, but we'll just let nature take its course! Thank you :)
