Recently my pied and lutino have had 5 babies successfully and I'm very happy.
How ever i have a problem where the female parent is already starting to want to mate again with the male and the babies aren't even 3 weeks old yet.

I don't want them to mate again and have more babies. My plan was to let them finish taking care of the chicks together and once the babies were fully weened, i would separate the parents to avoid further babies.

My question is it possible for only 1 parent to take care of the chicks? If yes which parent should i leave to finish taking care of the babies?
If no any advice? I'm aware it is 5 chicks and it can be a lot for one parent alone.

It is very much possible for either the male or female to take over feeding the babies. Two years ago we had our first clutch of four chicks. Sadly about half way thru the parents doing there part before we started hand feeding, the female caught a very fast and unexpected respiratory illness and passed away! Kiwi, the male stepped right up and did what he was suppose to do.
