Is white instant rice ok to give my tiels?

I would al dente it like breeder's suggest, and mix it with other foods. Also make sure to rinse it very well to remove starch... also suggested by breeder's. So do you think it would be good for them, especially as my pair are up for breeding and may start having eggs and possibly babies within the next few weeks?

Please let me know asap ;) I have wanted and asked to get brown rice and beans to make a mix... but have had no time so my mom got me some instant white rice thinking it would be the same.. kinda.

Thanks in advance guys! I know you will be helpful like aways :p

lol ok!

So I snooped on some other boards and have come to the conlusion(s) that both brown and white rice are not the best for tiels, but both are ok in moderation (to eat regularly but not as staple diet). So I went ahead and made the rice, cooked it PERFECTLY (Which Im proud of, 1st time making it yet ) and the birdies are loving it! Like actually... niether of them have taken their heads out of the bowl :D Im so pleased!

I aslo shredded carrots in it, and diced up boiled egg (no shell) then mixed it all around. It is heaven for them right now, so I am soo glad! Rice is apparently awesome for parents and babies... its an easy food to eat, fills them up, and gets them to eat other things (such as next time I will be putting in beans... and now that they love rice I'm sure they will try and like the beans) ;)

Rice in moderation is fine. I personally never used the instant rice but I don't see that it would be that much different from regular rice. Just make a mix with different veggies and add it. Lentils are great for them and ussually very much liked. Also, start giving them some egg food.

Yup I think the same way Aly. And yes they have been getting fresh boild egg many times per week for the past many months... they love it! They also adore shredded carrots... which is how I got them to eat egg food (mixed them). That is also how I got them to eat the rice (mixed carrot, egg, and rice) in a mix. They went after the carrots (I was watching) then were like "wow whats this?!" and both tried rice and thats mostly what they ate after. Memphis picking out the carrots... they are his lover

Also, another good thing that I have noticed with them both... is that they don't eat their sunflowers! I have heard they are so bad. They use to eat them a lot but would rather have seed, pellets, or millet... not to mention fresh food instead. Im assuming that it is a good thing that they don't eat those fatty sunflowers... right? What do you think :)

Thats good that they like it :) I would not give it to them all the time though. I would try and give them some dark leafy greens too. Whole wheat is always better, I can't stand whole wheat stuff myself (iam bad I know)

Sunflowers are have some really good fats in them but like all things, in moderation. Some tiels tend to pick out on the sunflower seeds so that would be bad. Mine also like fresh food over their seed.
