I can't tell what this food is. Does it tell what it is on the label? If you don't even know what it is, then obviously we can't tell whether it's desirable or not.

Sunflower seeds are nutritious and a little bit is OK. But too much is bad because they are very high in fat, and can lead to obesity and heart disease. I think you are correct that this shopkeeper is giving you nonsense advice.
