Hello everyone,
I have two cockatiels one is 1 1/2 years old white/gray and was told she is a female. The other is about to be 1 years old pearl and was told its a male. Ive been noticing that she walks around with her wings slightly open and whistles the same thing over and over

and at times just quietly with her wings the same way. When shes doing this and keeps walking around the other cockatiel will follow her where ever she goes. I took a video hope it shows it clear and hope someone can tell me what this means. Thank you!

I have two breeding pair that look almost identical to yours! The bird walking around with it's wings out like that is the male! That's called "Heartwings" and he's trying to make himself look big and bad to the female! Nearly ALL male cockatiels do that at one time or another for attention. In most cases, that means he wants to breed with the hen his trying to impress.

Thank you for the reply Robert.
Wow, we thought he was a female... so would my other cockatiel be a female not a male?
or do they do this mating dance regardless of the other cockatiel sex?
