Dooby used to love to bite and play with a certain toy, but when he started to obsess over it, I took it away. This morning, I gave it back to him and he's doing exactly the same again.........so, not good huh? With the mood of the Doob, I'd better take it away again do you think?

I don't know what it is about this tiel of mine, I don't seem to be able to do anything without asking about it first. I think it's time I just stopped worrying about him and learned to enjoy him more. There, I've told myself off now.......now, any ideas how I can retrieve a toy without losing a finger or two?:p

Awww thanks Laura, perhaps I should have my own little category called Paranoid Plukie Prattles On!! LOL!!

It's true though, I just want him to be happy and us to feel relatively safe with him, I don't want to have to worry too much about whether I'm going to get a chunk taken out of me or whether he is going to fly at Darryl and slice his neck!!

Just one more question.....for now.....as you know Dooby have had quite a severe clipping, so just how well should he be able to fly upwards, he was perched on Darryls shoulder (Darrly had his eyes screwed tightly shut saying, please don't bite, please don't bite. LOL) and he flew from there up to the top of the kitchen door, so he would have had to have had some lift under his wings to be able to do that, from across the kitchen surely. I don't think there is anything that is going to stop the Doobster!! Is it a plane, is it a bird.......no, it's super Doob!!!!!

If you want to merge the two threads Laura, go ahead, I've really hijacked my own thread here.

Wow I can't believe he can still fly up that high...lol I clipped Ollie and I didn't think it was that much but now he can't fly up high he can get up abit and right back down I feel bad sometimes but its for the best right now, he was flying up to above the cupboards and getting really territorial he would freak out if you tried to get him down, Can Dooby still fly at you if he is in attack mode?

I think if he wanted to he could, yes. He knows he can climb up my leg and onto my shoulder, that's what he's been doing that's fine, although when I go to move him off my shoulder he will bite, that's when the trusty willow stick comes in to play. lol. There really isn't anything stopping him launching himself from his cage into our faces though. I thought he was going to become a bit of a recluse today, because yesterday a couple of times, he flew into a wall and once at least, I think he must have hurt himself a bit. This morning, I put my hand in to take him out and that was fine, then after being out for a couple of minutes, he went back in, without flying anywhere, so I thought that he was getting a little bit wary of flying in case he hurt himself. Now, that sounds a bit daft now I've put it in words, lol, a bird that's afraid of flying!!! He's out and about now though, so I think he'll be ok. I think we are just going to take it as it comes with him to be honest, no two days are the same. He still likes a cuddle and a tickle though. lol.

I clip Noo to the point of no return and he can still fly

That kind of makes me feel better, just knowing that he's clipped as much as he can be without amputation and yet he can still fly. At least I know I've done all I can, now we just have to ride it out and see if the little sweetheart of a Dooby comes back when the hormones settle. :p

Sheeesh, I'm glad I've only got one...........I'd be a total wreck if I had any more.

Oh, he must have read what I've said about him.....I'm bleeding again, he's just caught my finger and now he's whistling Jingle Bells.......he's a psycho bird!!!!

Sorry Plukie...He's got a mind of his own...As far as flying, well, some are strong flier and even clipped they can still manage a bit. I hope his hormones calm down before he drives you insane..It's good that you removed that toy also. I'd be scared to if mine wanted to attack me to what you're describing...

He must be a super Doob, if he can still fly that well  Spike has a toy (swing) that he likes to fight with. I did not take it out because I heard a surrogate enemy toy is ok. But of course the toy you took from Dooby was no enemy :p
