Pepper is our oldest lacewing ( pearl ) hen. She is almost 5 years old and has never laid a single egg! With her near perfect markings and posture for this mutation, she has won many ribbons in cockatiel shows. She's had 2 or 3 potential mates but she shows no interest in any of them! She's even cage mates with Ziggy ( a four year old male ) that won't let her out of his site without going nuts but she's just not interested in breeding.

Yes! Your Peaches does look a lot like Pepper! These birds are really beautiful! How many cockatiels do you have? Aside from a jungle full here, we also have FOUR sun conures! 2 males and 2 females!

Oh, wow! That's pretty neat!! Sun conures are very pretty!!! I have seven cockatiels which are all varying mutations. And we also have three yellow-sided conures, one green cheek conure, one black capped conure, four budgies, and five budgie babies. It's quite the jungle here, too. 😂

Dang! I don't feel so bad now since we have 15 cockatiels ( three are the new babies ) and the 4 sun conures I mentioned. Needless to say, there ARE times when it sounds like the San Diego zoo around here!! The one bird I've always wanted since even finding out about them not all that long ago is a Caique!!! I've read up on them and there a very high maintenance bird but also the funniest known to man! I doubt I'll ever own one but I sure admire them!

😂 Yes, it sure sounds crazy here, too. My mom likes to say it sounds like the Amazon when she is on the phone. I wish I could have that many cockatiels; I'd love to have all the different mutations of cockatiels! Yes! Once I found about caiques, I really wanted one but like you said, they are high maintenance. I also would love to have a cockatoo as well since they resemble cockatiels, but I don't know if I could ever have that big of a bird. They are also very high demand and apparently are known to destroy EVERYTHING!!!!

Well.....as a matter of fact, We actually HAD a cockatoo for 2 weeks! Here's the story: Back before the bird count got THIS big, our avian vet friend GAVE us one of his! She was 25 years old and her name was Charley. She had already had a few issue as she had pluck a lot of her feathers .When she was normal, she was great! Sing, talkm whistle, and dance! Sadly this bird seemed ( at the time ) to be bi-polar! LOL! My wife and I both could just never really get that comfortable with her. Going from cockatiels to a cockatoo is a BIG jump! I always wanted one too but Charley was really just too much for us to handle so our friend took her back. In the end, we think she just missed home with all the other birds he had.
