A few days ago my younger tiel Bright Eyes died. It wasn’t disease or anything cage related. It simply was nature being nature. I and my flock have to cope with this trauma and that is part of why I decided to post this. My older tiel Romeo has been affected and I’m not sure how to approach the situation. He’s ‘shadowing’ my other birds pretty hard. I am on the fence about getting another bird as there are none that are local. I would have to very much order one.

is it safe to let the situation be? I have 15 birds in my flock varying from starlings and sparrows to parakeets, lovebirds, and an irn. I bought Bright as a companion for Romeo, but….

so, any suggestions?

I'm very sorry about your loss of Bright Eyes. I have only had up to a few tiels at a time so I can't offer any advice on your larger flock. I haven't had my birds express mourning behavior that I could see - maybe it's because they haven't been bonded to one another. Maybe someone who has a similar bird family can respond.... sorry again about your sad loss :(
