Hi all

I posted a few weeks ago that Willow had laid an egg

Three eggs were broken but two came through with just a claw hole and a little dent

Tapey 1 & Tapey 2 (they both had a tiny piece of tape on them)

Well on Wednesday Tapey 1 hatched!

It was amazing Blizzard fell in love and doted on the baby

This is when we realised Tapey 2 had died in the egg

Blizzard looked after our new little fluffball who danced around the nestbox

But this Morning (Friday Morning) I discovered our little chick dead away from the eggs

I don't think he'd been fed in the night :(

I don't know why I called him a he but it just fitted

I may have only had 36 hours near this little downy chick but I miss him :(

It's sad not to hear the little tweets or the shaking of the box at feeding time

And Bizzums has been really effected, willow not as much

He seems really sad and won't go in the nest box to sit on the fake eggs

Waddle over rainbow bridge you little white fluffball

I'm sorry about the loss of the babies. It's very disappointing. :(

I'm so sorry. Breeding is so hard. The babies are so fragile.

A couple of suggestions to help for next time. Get bedding, like pine bedding. It holds in heat and moisture better which will help the eggs hatch and help prevent breaks and cracks in them. Taking the chick out and weighing it every day will give you an idea of whether it's being fed and if there's anything wrong.

Fly free little one.

Tapey 1 and 2

I am so sorry about the loss of your babies! That is a very sweet picture of Mama(?) with her chick. I've never bred cockatiels or any bird, but it must be so sad to have the chicks die after you anticipating their arrival.

**Hugs** I, too, know all about the loss of babies. It hurts not seeing their fuzzy little behinds wiggle when mom and dad enter the nest :(
