first you need 2 weaved hangers like this

then shape the top and bottom hanger to the shape you like

swing toy part 2

then twist the hook part of the bottom hanger around the top hanger like the pic shows

then finish the twisting like so

wrap exposed wire with some cloth like so

you can add a toy for the birds fun like in the pic above i used multi purpose ties here is the finished product

if bea wants she can put both threads together

That's cool! I've never seen the coat hangers with material though, so i'm not sure i'll be able to give it a try.

that looks like its wrapped in a cording type material like what dog ropes are made out of, Maybe hobby shops sell the cording and then you can wrap it around the coat hanger

I make them by un-twisting rope slightly and re-wrapping it around the coat hanger
