At the end of July I'm having my hip replaced. I'll be a few hours from home and away from my babies for two nights, three days (providing everything goes as planned.)
I have a friend who's going to come 2-3 times a day to care for them. I've never been apart from them so I'm worried for both them and me.

For night I'm going to leave them uncovered and leave a lamp on so there's no possibility of night frights. I'll put a new bulb in the lamp just so there's no risk of it dying! The hard to catch, not tame bird will probably have to stay in his cage otherwise he's too hard to catch. Everyone is in large flight cages though.

What else can I do to prevent any problems and reduce stress? On them and me lol. I get emotional thinking of being away from them but I need this surgery.

When I would leave my birds, I'd leave their light on 100% of the time. No worry of night fright there. Make sure you get fresh food before you leave so your friend doesn't run out. Lots of millet when you get home.
