Hi all, my 6yo Whiteface pied male has developed a strange habit of flying to the floor of the room and hiding behind a certain spot behind the curtain. He doesn't seem to be ill as he's still eating and drinking and flying to me as he's always done, but in March, I've acquired 2 hens, and both cage doors are always open. Not sure if he's seeking out a nesting area or if this is something else. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks in advance,

Kimberly

He’s seeking out a nest site, which is understandable as it’s springtime and birds are hormonal right now. Has he paired up with one of the hens? I would definitely try to discourage him from reaching small, dark corners. I would also suggest covering his cage with a dark sheet for at least 12 hours a night to try and get his hormones down.

Yours reminds one of mine. He will walk behind a big pole and stay there quietly for a while as if he is trying to hide from someone.
