My mom said that we can go to the store tomorrow (as long as she's not working because she's on call, but there's a high posiblity that she'll be able to take me.)!

I'm gonna look at the Cockatiel babies they have avalible and hopefully if we find one that we like, we can reserve it. When Springbreak starts - March 22nd is probably when they're ready to go home I think. If not I think it's March 25th.

That said I'm having a friend over after we visit my grandparents in Kissimme on the 22nd, and around ooh IDK maybe the 26th or the 27th I can get my Cockatiel! If all goes well! I'll post pictures ASAP! 8 D

And, when I'm there tomorrow I'll post a few pictures from the store visit - so hopefully I'll update this thread~ So excited~

Noooo! The Bird Store is closed on Sundays! T_T

I guess I'll have to wait until later in the school-week or next weekend to go and see the babies. Well, mom was on call today so it's kinda stressful for her to go anyplace ; / She likes to stay home anyway, so its not that big of a deal if I cant go. I wasnt really expecting much today anyway.

Hopefully sometime during the school-week, if i had a good day during school I can head on up there and take a few pictures! If I do I'll be sure to post them on the forum!

New babies are so exciting! Can't wait to see pictures when you get to go look and choose! :)
Mom said that when we go probably tomorrow (since she's not working we get to go after school!) - I'll spend sometime with the babies and see which one I like, eventually we'll place a hold on them. Then, we'll bring them home around the 26th or the 27th~ But, I gotta ask my mom what her work schedule is like for the 26/27th, but I think she can work that out.

Even if they are ready to go by tomorrow - the babies- I still dont want to bring them home. I still dont think I'm ready yet ;u;

Oh I'm excited for you!! It is always good to do alot of research and be very prepared before bringing home your new baby. Be sure to have a travel/hospital cage set up and fully stocked first aid kit with styptic powder ready just in case you ever need it.. Congratulations and enjoy your baby.

Oh yeah! A hospital/travel cage *_*, almost forgot about that... We should buy an extra cage just in case. Mom and I were looking at these cages at Pet Supermarket, and we saw one that mom said 'this is the Bare Minium Size for a Cockatiel so this wouldnt be any good' I think it was less than 40 dollars, I think we'll buy that one along with the one that was 79.99.

The one that's 79.99 is really big and a great deal too, because it comes with a few things. The bare minumum one will add to our spendings but it's worth it because it'll make a good travel cage/hospital cage. *_*

UPDATE:

Mom is off on the 26th so that's when I'm getting my Cockatiel! She's also off tomorrow, and that's when we're going into the store and reserving it. I dont think we're gonna get any sort of extra cage because the main-cage isnt too big or too small either.

Though definately if we need one in the future, Monica, we'll get that bare-minumum cage I was talking about for emergancies. I also will get a jar of that powder, and I've got a really nice magazine and a good website to reference (not just this one but one called Cockatiel Cottage) that shows me the list of foods Cockatiels can eat and cant.

I'll stop rambling for today I guess. But like the title suggests - I'm just way too excited for the lil' guy or gal! Though, I do worry a teeny bit about my schedule.

I go to school @ about 8:20 and get home at 12:55 and I go to my grandparents (when my mom's working) the minute school for me lets out - so I dont get home normally until lets say about 1:30 or something.

Would it be okay to leave the lil Tiel for that long? I need to eat my lunch, my grandparents cook me a nice lunch - though if somedays am I needed to come home earlier I can adjust my schedule.

Is there any suggestions for a morning and afternoon routine I should establish for my Tiel? I should be writing this stuff down now probably. I have an iHome that I bought recently and I have yet to programe it XD! So, with my new Tiel I need to start using the iHome.

Like - wake up around 7:00 or 7:20, feed hamsters, etc. etc. You get the point.

Wow, I can tell how excited you are. I am sure that you will research and care for your new baby. I am new to the world of birds and have learnt so much from this site. Make sure you read through the cockatiel health section too. ;)

Looking forward to seeing pictures of you new baby.
