I have a normal grey male. I think he’s under a year, maybe well under. He’s kind of quiet, I’ve only had him for a week. My question is, he has smooth pink feet. Does this mean anything? Does it point to youth. I read online where normal grey have grey beaks, grey feet and black toe nails. He has a grey beak and black nils, but his feet are pink and smooth. Does this mean anything?

The normal greys are one of my favourites, too! Yeah, that's true about the color of the feet. Maybe it's to do with age. I don't know mine's exact age, but he has a band that reads 2019 so I'm guessing he's around 3 or 4 years old.

You really have a beautiful bird. I can appreciate a Pearl or pied or Lutino, but I’m really partial to the normal greys. Mine just spent the last half hour chirping and whistling and singing, first time he’s done that since I brought him home 5 days ago. I guess he’s getting used to his environment. I’ve been putting my hand and arm in the cage and he’s okay with that, but he doesn’t like moving my hand towards him. Now that he’s starting to sing and play in his cage, I’m going to give him a few more days to relax before I try to get him on my hand. He’s really a nice bird, I can’t wait to have him outside the cage.

Thank you! I totally understand what you mean. I have seven cockatiels and all of them are varying characters. I got one as a hand raised baby, another that I raised from egg, and the other five were from people who didn't want them anymore. My one whiteface pearl I can't handle still as she was used exclusively for breeding in her old home and was never handled. This grey and one of the others are so-so. Sometimes they'll let me handle them and other times they act like I'm scary. 😆 My lutino is very tame, but she doesn't cuddle with me. My cinnamon pied is my biggest accomplishment though. She came from an older couple who never took her out because she would bite hard enough to draw blood. When I got her, I didn't know if I could get through to her, but now it's like she's a whole different bird.

That’s encouraging to hear, wow, 7 birds. I’ve been trying to imagine what having two birds is like and you have seven. It must be quite challenging, but crazy cool at the same time.
