Hi all,

I noticed the other day that my 4 month old female cockatiel had some how gotten a small wound on the longest toe of her right foot. It is only very small and she can still use the foot but she does favour standing on her other leg. She is caged with another male cockatiel (her brother) but they scarcely pick on each other. She picks at it as though it is very itchy so I initially thought mites but neither of them excessively preen or scratch. Any advice moving forward in regards to treatment would be appreciated thanks.

If it's only a small cut or bruise, you can just wait for it to heal. She may be picking at it because it's painful. If you think it might be something worse, like a broken toe, it's best to talk to a vet about it.
