I am reading "Cockatiels! Pets-Breeding-Showing" by Nancy Reed. And it says one of the symptoms of vitamin and mineral deficiencies is small clutches of eggs. My pair usually lay 3 eggs. Would this be considered a small clutch and what deficiency could it indicate?
Thanks

It depends on the age of the hen, after 7-8 years old the clutch decreases. Some hens however are perfectly normal that way (3 eggs). the number of eggs in a clutch is inherited trait on mother to daughter line. So your hen may be normal,if she isnt showing any other symptoms its probably not the vitamin deficiency

What type of diet is your bird on? If she is eating a well balanced diet of pellets, veggies and seed as well as having ample cuttlebone and mineral block she should be getting the minerals and vitamins she needs.
Their diet includes all of those things and also I spoke too soon as she ended up laying more eggs this time around :)
