Good afternoon,

Kindly please take a look at my parrot,
what antibiotic with what dossage and how frequently can you suggest?

I found 2 cases like this on YouTube, both didn’t make it. Our bird with symptoms:

Treatment: After first symptoms (movie taken at day one) he got injection with tetracycline into breast. For day 2 it was better, he almost looked healthy but could not talk, day three is reverse, he breath heavily with whole body. His nose is red. Only good thing is that he seems to eat as other parrot in cage do. We have done another injection (exactly 4) with the same medicine – Tetracycline into breast muscle. But he is still infected. In my opinion we have too long breaks between injections, because we have taken injections every third day. Our vet suggests that this dose is enough for such small parrot. Moreover, he takes tylosin in water and we do nebulization with Virkon and FC 10 and saline with tylosin. He also drinks Protexin Aquaboost in water and Echinacea. Please give us some advices, any suggestions are welcome.

Ps. We tried to separate healthy parrot from this one but it just stops sleep and et at all so we moved them back together.

Also if warm heater around cage is good idea please advise.

I suspect he get sick from bathing few days earlier with spray water...

Kind regards,

Dariusz :yellow pied:

Is it cold where you are? That combined with bathing could make him sick but not the bathing alone.

I don't know anymore about dosaging than the vet does. I would call the vet and let them know that it's not working. I had to do injections on one of my birds a long time ago and it was every day in the breast that I did them, not every three days. See if the vet can up the amount of times the bird gets the medicine.

thanks for answer,

we have around 26 celcius which is around 78.8 fahrenheit. after analyzing his case we believe he was weaker earlier and each round flying was causing him breath heavier than for his younger mate.

This was some breakthrough when we also discovered injections each day are beneficial but its 3,5 week now and he is gradually weaker and weaker. from few days he is additionaly to bacteria atybiotic having some dossages of itrakonazol. He almost died from nebulization.

we are open to hear some other approaches we could proceed since our vet just have no other ideas and admitted he would like also to hear some other ideas.

Kind regards,
Dariusz.
