I need a bit of help on gathering some info as I have no idea where to start!

I have a friend who I may be adopting a cockatiel from. The bird is in Washington State and would need to be shipped to Indiana. I'm trying to gather information on what we would need in order to ship the bird (health certificate? Does the bird need to be banded?? Or is that only for international travel?) and receive it safely, and then work from there on finding an airline to ship it through.

Thanks!

When I looked into it (to send a bird to my sister in FL) banding and such wasn't required. I believe a health certificate might be, but that depends on the state laws. Finding a vet who does those on birds will be tough. Dogs and cats get them because of rabies vaccines and such. Not sure what they would check for on birds.

Delta was the airline I was going to choose and their guidelines are pretty straightforward. Good luck!
