Hello everyone,

My Cockatiel Lola laid an egg yesterday and she and her mate have been sitting on it since then, I candled it just now and noticed that it has bubbles inside of it which I see from other posts that it indicates a ruptured air sac most likely because they sat on the egg as soon as it was laid.

What I'd like to know is if I should leave it in the nest still?

I'm pretty bummed :( She laid an egg a couple weekends ago, but it was broken at the bottom of the cage and now this one has a ruptured air sac. Does it mean at least the egg would have been fertile?

Thanks!

There's no way to know whether it would have been fertile or not. I would leave it in the box. If they lay more eggs, this one will help to provide warmth for them and the babies if they hatch.
