Hello guys!

I'm a student that will be starting my first term of college this fall. Luckily, I will be living with a family member so I don't have to leave my bird (not that I would ever allow it) at home... my only problem is that my college is out of state.

I will have to take an 8 HOUR drive from one state to the other... this makes me really worried, because I don't know how stressful it will be for my boy. We've been together for 5 years, but he doesn't go on a lot of car trips. Does anyone have any tips or stories? I want to ease his stress as much as I can.

BTW, he's not harness trained. Do you guys think training him would be good for the car ride, so he can stretch out at rest stops and stuff?

I would get him used to the travel cage slowly so he enjoys it. You can bring a blanket to cover just the sides of the cage if he seems nervous. As for the harness, good luck it’s very hard to train them to like the harness hehe. If he doesn’t like it, it will bring him more stress.
