Hey guys, 3 months ago i got my first tiel Pika from a local marketplace, this was a couple days before i moved into my first place with my partner.
At first, Pika was anxious but now he is talking a constantly, especially at night and it is getting too loud as he will start to scream or make alarm sounds.
i will not be able to keep him in this place due to the noise, so i was planning on keeping Pika at my partner's parents home (The first place we took Pika too).
We plan on visiting him almost everyday and doing his food as it is about a 5 minute drive.
The only concerns i have is that his parents own a dog (still young) and im worried it will make my tiel more anxious as the first time Pika was here the puppy was very excited.
We are going to take him back as soon as we find a new place that is more pet friendly, but it will be about 3-9 months until we can move.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how i could handle this, to ensure Pika wont be too anxious? Also will this effect his personality? Any tips or feedback will be highly appreciated
Thank you😊😊

Do you put him to bed at night? Cockatiels need a good 12 hours sleep or they will scream it of tiredness much like babies. It would be best to cover his cage or shut him in a dark room. During the day you should make sure that he is eating and has enough food he may have learnt that screeching is how he gets your attention. How old is he?

See if you can find someone to foster them until you can take them. I have never had the noise /loud screams issue daily. Mine do that when they want to come out. I take them out very much because they are very social and want to come out. But I have to watch them because they like to chew wood. When you get tiels you have to be committed. Parakeets are less of a problem. Mine go to bed at 8:30 and get up when I get up I uncover. I take them out every day for at least 20 minutes and let them sit on me. Socialize them. If you lived in PHiladelphia, I would help you.

Thanks for the reply! And yes we cover his cage before bed, although he wakes up early and doesnt get the full 12 hours. He is about 6 months old i believe 😊

Thanks for the reply! We have always let pika out for about 2 hours a day but he was still screaming. He is starting to get a lot better now though😊
