So tonight I bought 2 cockatiels in a cage not even big enough for 2 finches. They cage with a big cage that the owners claimed was broken. :wacko:Well I'm using it so they are not living in filth anymore.

Ok, so now to my question.

They were being fed wild bird food because it was cheaper. :censor:

Well, the female in pooping big whitish green poop. She is also very fluffy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for suppliments?

Also does anyone use bird bath mist? I wonder if it's good for conditioning and I've never used it.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Kristin

First thing i would do is get them checked by an avian vet. Sounds like the female is unwell. The vet can also recommend a careful plan to get them on a better diet without shocking their systems. :)

I wouldn't use a commercial bath spray. Plain water is good, or you can mix in some pure aloe vera which will help their skin and feather condition. Until you know their health though i would keep them warm and dry.

Good on you for rescuing them!

i take my hat of to you, i saw some birds in a pet shop yesterday in bad condition, i wanted to rescue the parrolete who was in a cage that was too small too small for him to fit on the perches so he was scraping on the bottom like a chicken, the love bird where on the perches but not very likely they just sat there, the budgies flapped but budgies flap a lot not that they had much room to flap, i was gonna buy the paroelet as it seems just so sad, but i didn't have the money to house it properly i only have budgies cage here, and i didn't know what to feed it , i suppose anything was better than the nothing he was getting there, i am actually crying again regretting not rescuing him, i didn know what else to do :(

any way i am sure the vet can advise away to help them,

i will copy and paste what i just wrote to another thread so as not to take over this one sorry
