I love to burn scented candles in the winter and use essential oils in my diffuser. Is this harmful to my cockatiel. I would not have my cockatiel in the same room as the diffuser or candle. Also, what are your thoughts on burning incense.

Don’t use anything like scented candles, defuses, or scented sprays or strong chemicals. Use bird friendly stuff to clean like vinegar and water. Scents can kill your bird. Don’t use Teflon pans to cook or put those plastic cooking bags in the oven will also kill the birds. Never use something like Lysol or any of those commercial type chemicals. Birds are fragile. You can go on lafeber.com or the beauty of birds page google them for tons of info.

@cockatiels4life I do know the history of the canary bird. When I had Cockatiels and parrots years ago I did burn candles and scented oils then and had no problem. The reason I asked the question is that I was told that the oils used in today’s smelly stuff is different that years ago. thanks for your input.
