This is Puck's cage. It's about 90 cm wide and high (35 inches) and 55 cm deep (21 inches). I'm trying to decide if I would want to get a second bird, both for me and for Puck. Would this cage be big enough for two cockatiels, or possibly a cockatiel and a bourkes parakeet?

The picture is its 'current' setup, partially in front of my window because apparently Puck likes sunbathing. Part of the cage is always in the shadow, though, just to be sure he doesn't get too warm!

It looks just big enough for 2 cockatiels, but u won't know if they will get along or not until u let them spend time near each other. Other species tend to bully cockatiels from what I've read so not sure.

I'm going to see a breeder this weekend and check out their cockatiels and bourke's parakeets.
Apparently bourke's are more gentle than cockatiels, and she has some co-living. We'll see if it's a match between Puck and one of the other birds. If not, then he will remain an only bird. If it is a match, I'll slowly get them used to eachother, keeping them separate at first. We'll see!

I also quarenteen my new pet bird for 1 month so they don't pass illness to each other.

I read somewhere that bourkes are not very hands on (tame) pets so If you want a tame one I would read up on them. (I might be mistaken)

Also during Quarenteen its a good time to bond with your new parrot so it doesn't only like your other one =)

I really like the cage, having 3 cups that are accessible from the outside is really convenient. I just need to put 'roofs' over them somehow, as Puck tends to poop into his water bowl from time to time.

I ended up choosing a second cockatiel. The person I visited raised both cockatiels and bourkes (and budgies) but the bourkes were much less interested in interacting than the tiels.

the only way I find to stop biords from pooping in water bowls is a roof or a water feeder :]

Yeah, I was looking to buy or make something to put over the bowls as a roof! Although he mostly poops in his water bowl, it sometimes happens with one of the other ones, too.

Maybe some construction made from acrylic glass? Ah well, I'll come up with something
