Hi, Talk Cockatiels! :)

Thank you for helping me with so many bird issues. My two cockatiels have a much better lifestyle now, as a result of advice I got on this website.

I now have a problem that's affecting my home, though: My one bird is chewing on the walls. Does anyone have a tip to stop the bird from chewing on the walls? I'm thinking, like, is there some product you recommend that is really easy to put on the walls to block the bird from chewing them? I have tried putting paper in front of the walls but it's inconvenient to balance the paper in front of the walls, and then he just moves the paper out of the way. I am renting a place and I don't want it to be all destroyed when I move out.

(To clarify, there are just a few places where there's a corner or something that makes it easy to chew, and the wall is close to the ground or close to a ledge he likes to land on, so he can stand on the ground or the ledge and chew the wall. Those are the only spots I need to cover up.)

Thanks so much!
:)

My old tiel nibbled a hole in the wall. The best solution I found was just keep shooing them away. Unless you can place an object they're scared of (my conure is terrified of a tiny wicker wreath) to deter them from that area, persistence is best in my opinion

For the corners that the bird is chewing on you could try some of those edge and corner guards they make for baby proofing houses with.

One of my cockatiels was afraid of a native Australian aboriginal carving of a goanna and would freak out when he saw it.

I could not blame him either as a goannas are a natural predator of cockatiels in the wild, so maybe a bit of gene memory was there.

Perhaps some computer printed paper photos of a goanna near the places that you want to keep him away from.

Goanna carvings might be a bit scarce where you are so cheap paper printed ones will have to do.
