Hi, I'm new to this forum and have found myself lost with one of my hand reared male cockatiels.
He's just over 3yrs old. I hand reared him from 2 days old. He's never been paired with a female, but has paired himself with a 4½yr old male I also hand reared from 2 days old.. this male he paired with isn't aggressive.. he's very loving like the other 5. it doesn't matter what I do for this male he is aggressive 90% of the time. He drawers blood on me when he bites. His bites come out of nowhere sometimes. It's like he lures me in for scratches, then bites out of nowhere after a few minutes of scratches. He's in an aviary with 5 other handreared, who are all sweet birds except for him. I can't bring myself to part with him, but he's being awful to me & the others.. diving at them when he's in a mood which is a good part of the day/s. They all have toys, fresh perches, fresh water, fresh food every few days. They are my life, so i look after them very well.
I've tried removing him and caging him on his own but that stresses him out further and makes him even more nasty with me and the others when i do end up putting him back in.
On the odd occasion he'll let me scratch his head and he's actually loving for a whole minute then back to his aggressive self. If he thinks I'm going to touch him in a way he doesn't want he'll bite hard and run. He throws his wings out at my face and has even come at me with claws to my face!
Sometimes I think he's coming good, but then NOPE, He'll drawer blood on me or attack one of the others. They are scared of him..especially one, of which the aggressive bird zones in on him daily.
I've tried so much and I'm at a loss of what to do. The sweeter my other birds are the more he zones in on them.
I don't know what to do. He's upsetting the whole balance and in turn, upsetting his own balance (what balance he has) his father was aggressive so I'm thinking it's in his blood naturally. I can't sell/ give him away, in fear that he won't suit someone else and they'll hurt him or he gets away from them ending up having a bad life.. I can't give him to a breeder or he'll cause issues there too. I honestly feel lost and really don't want to part with him as he's one of my feathered kids. I do love him dearly but I'm left feeling really lost.

Do you have any ideas?
Anything would be appreciated.
Thankyou for hearing me❤💐

WOW! I wish I had answers for you. It sounds like you've done evrything humanly possible to treat this male properly! I've been raising tiels now for about three years and have never run across issues quit as bad as yours. The ONLY thing similar that comes to mind is our oldest normal grey male Kiwi. He flat will NOT let me touch or pick him up but my wife can! The strange thing is, he will fly to my shoulder all the time and just sing he's little arse off as if he's trying to be nice.....until I try to touch him. Then it's open beak and nipping at me! Since he is our second oldest tiel, we pretty much let him do his own thing....( within reason. ) The ONLY thing I can think of that might cause yours to act like that is either Hormonal or frustration. Has he every mated with a female or attemepted to bond with another tiel? One other thing you might consider as I know your at the end of your rope is have him checked out by an AVIAN vet. It could be that he has an underlying condition that your not aware of. I sure HOPE that somehow you and this male tiel can make peace. Keep me posted.

Hi, I would take and isolate him from the other birds, as soon as you take the bully out of the flight another other 1 will take his place hoping he is not trained by the alpha male to be just as mean. if your place is large enough put the bully in his own cage separate them so far he won't scream all day but he will if they hear him they will telegraph all day to keep him and turn him back into your ole buddy, keep him alone no telegraphing back and forth when you have 1 bird you have a pet when you have 2 you have 2 birds who prefer each others company . 2 females are easier to work with no testosterone..Thank you I hope you get a grip on your birds David Russia out off The UKRAINE!
