So we are not sure what happened. He was fine and the. Started screaming like he was being attacked. Nothing can get to him in his cage. And now his toe looks like it could be broken or dislocated but we are not sure what to do. He won’t move it at all but doesn’t make any noise when being handled and his toe being touched. Any advice?

Can't see by photo if injured. Looks normal by photo. They will scream at any hurt, including when they pull a feather that is not quite ready to be pulled etc. If you suspect broken or dislocated, take to vet to look at. Doesn't cost the world. In saying this, some bird toys in cage have metal, chain-like tops. If they get caught up in them, can twist/break toes/legs. Watch what you put in their cage and harm that may come to them ;)

thank you for the advice. Sadly he passed away yesterday. He was fine that morning and he was playing with one of his balls rolling it around and then he was just dead. Very sad and heartbreaking.

I am so sorry for your loss and heart-break. I grieve with any loss of birds over my long life-time, as is very heart-breaking. It is not your fault at all. Sadly happens, good one minute and not the next. Hope you may find another bird that just lights up your life in a way that only bird owners know 😢 💓

I also am so sorry for your loss and heartbreak. Doesn't seem like his toe was actually a problem since he was playing with his toys ok, but rather something so sudden and devastating. Sometimes we don't have a chance to even try to help our pets because of unexpected loss. I've had this happen and the deaths have been painful to me for many years afterwards (but that's me). I, too, also hope you get a tiel someday that will bring love and happiness to you again and that you will not deprive yourself of a loving companion bird out of fear of another tragedy.
