Good afternoon, I received a baby cockatiel on 3/20/21. The breeder indicated that the baby was 10 days old then. Through my experience and research when I got the baby on Saturday he was much younger than indicated. Please help me determine how old is baby could be . I noticed on Sunday that one eyelid looks as if it may not open.Is it too early to determine since one eye has been slightly open since Monday. The baby eats well going from 8 feedings a day Sunday and Monday, 6 on yesterday 3-23-21& 6 so far today. I have included pictures from each day since Saturday. Any advice for observation would be greatly appreciated.

Breeders selling or GIVING away babies THAT young should be shot! ALL of your photos are of precious babies that SHOULD still be with there parents and fed for a minimum of AT LEAST three weeks before any attempt at hand feeding! What that tells me is there are obviously lots of lazy breeders out there that just want to pawn the poor babies off on people because THEY don't want to keep them for three weeks and then HAND feed them like a good breeder should!!!!!

Do you not think the breeder was wrong to do you that way? Three of the baby pictures you posted didn't even have there eyes open telling me ( at the time of the photo ) they were only a few days old at best. I sure do hope these babies make it.

It was just one baby. I actually posted the same baby each day to show his growth.
I was a little bothered and thought about it a time or two. I decided my energy would be better served devoting it to the baby.
I attempted to reach out to the Breeder for clarities sake and still ended up with misinformation re: the hatch date.
I can't say I understand her motives. Maybe she needed the $$. Idk
I am grateful that his eyes are open now and he seems to be flourishing healthy.
I've raised newborns in the past when a pair I previously owned was unsure what to do.
So luckily this wasn't my first time at the rodeo.

Thank you so much for letting me know this. MY bad on thinking it was more than one baby but I understand now. I'm also very glad to hear you have experience with chicks that young. Keep us posted on how it goes. You know as well as I do how FAST these birds grow!

No problem, I appreciate you responding. It's such a pleasure to watch them grow and flourish. I love them so much.
