Does she put it all in a little pile? I have a pair that does that when I take thier nestbox down. The male seems to be trying to make a nest. Have you tried putting someting different at the bottom of the cage? The sell all kinds of stuff these days designed to put at the bottom of cages. I've heard bad things about ground walnut shell however.

I wouldn't try any of the litters they sell for bird cages - it just makes it harder to monitor the droppings for illness and when the bedding gets moist it is a prime breeding ground for bacteria and other nasties. :)

I agree and I've read that they cause crop impaction when the birds end up ingesting some

Mine don't "eat" the paper they make lovely spit balls out of it - as long as its plain black/white news paper or plain white Printer paper it's fine

I stay away from store adds that are colored because I don't know what they use to make the colors.

and it is just black and white news paper i don't like the paper the pet shop sells, its to hard its like sanding paper , and the litters won't work for me.
