We got this cutie last night
it's supposed to be Male, but then again it was also supposed to be Just a Pearl Male, but I didn't look real hard last night because when my b/f got him home my kids were already in bed and the cage for him was in my son's room So trying to make less stress for the bird and not keeping my son up too late past bedtime, we put him in the cage, gave him food and water and covered him up partially and put the 2 of them to bed (my son and the bird LOL)

but he's 9 months old and within seconds of bieng here I knew the people must of never handled him because he screamed when my b/f took him out of the box to put him away and flew around the cage franticaly

I thought for sure getting a youngin (compared to our others who as far as i know the youngest out of the group is 2) it would be smooth sailing but it wasn't , it was easier with Nibbles and baby (age unknown but they're both over a yr that much i know), and with Lily and Pearl (one is 2 and one is 4 I'd have to dig out my paper work to know which is which ) they didn't scream, or anything they were handled

but I'll get this lil guy used to hands before the the quaratine is over
I only took 3 pics this morning he was freaking out

but any way here he is - he has no name yet

He's very cute...how many tiels does that make for you? I think you said you're planning to breed them?
he Makes 11 tiels

When do the tiels loose the black baby beak? he still has some black spots on his beak, he's supposed to be 9 months old though

and I know with roxy(lovebird) her's is gone already and she'll b 3 months old on the 19th

and just about all the baby budgies lil blackness on thier beaks are gone and they're all a little over a month old

i thought you had more than one quaker?...
but i agree... i now have 17 (omg am i mad?) budgies now, and they are LOUD... louder even than Scoundrel, my green cheek conure!
and awww Quaker... my friend at work, Kerrie, she is as bad as me, she breeds Indian ring neck parrots, and has a few pairs of them, and 3 tiels, and a bunch of finches (this is at my bar work job too, so its not like she is just a crazed pet shop worker like me :p)
aaanyway, she was telling me she has a friend in Brisbane who will sell us hand raised blue quakers for $150, but we had to do the last 2 weeks of hand raising ourselves...
and i had to practically strangle myself to stop myself from saying 'ill drive' :p

i would say the new guy is a pied, and sometimes a male pearl pied can still retain a peal as they age...
but yes, beautiful new addition ;)

I only have 1 quaker in my bird room lol the other 2 are in my bedroom thier cage is way too big to put in the bird room plus they're not very nice yet so i don't want to take any chances of my budgies or tiels thinking it's Billy (my main quaker) and get hurt

Ahh i'm glad you live in a different country than me LOL my boyfriend has been wanting blue quakers for over a year and at $150 for one he'd be driving his old beat up truck (that only runs when it wants too) as far as it would take him to get one

he did find a breeder in South Carolina that he could get a pair from for like 600 and some odd dollars including shipping

but I'd much rather find a pair closer to us, so we wouldn't have to ship them. but so far the guy in South Carolina is cheaper, I've found ONE single blue one for over 600 near me - but i refuse to pay that much for one when i can get 2 for less including shipping.

but who knows maybe we'll rent a vehicle this summer and take a road trip if we get the time :D
