While I was at the pet store I picked up this perch to add to Cosmo's cage. I noticed a faint odor that kinda smelled like moth balls to me. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand of perch?

I should note though, he does have different size and textures of perches. He has ones that are wood, branch like, a different type of branch wood, edible ones, and this is his first sand one. I did put this highest up and I will keep an eye on his feet to make sure they don't get irritated, I can always rub the sand off the top where his feet will touch.

Sand perches can be irritating to their feet for sure, but the smell would be my concern, especially as sensitive as tiels can be. I don't think I would take a chance just to be safe.

I'd allow it to air out for a bit until the odor goes away, before putting it in the cage.

As long as it isn't the only perch in the cage, the texture is not a worry for the feet. :)
