We acquired a breeding pair of cockatiels today. They were surrendered to the pet store we frequent due to a situation out of their owner's hands. They are beautiful! One appears to be albino (all white with red eyes) the other I think is some kind of pearl? Can anyone give me more info? We have a breeding pair already (made beautiful babies, I shared frequent photos of their growth in my other post!) They are both friendly, a little nervous in the new house though. We have a bigger cage on order to give them better space in a few days :)

We named these two Salt and Pepper (Mr. and Mrs.- Blues Clues) We are currently expecting eggs!

Her all floofed up when we had them out last night for cage cleaning.

Her vent has definitely taken on the egg shape. We got the camera up over the box to keep an eye out for eggs and are keeping an eye on her!

Excited Papa

Mr. Salt was super excited about the first egg. I've been meaning to share this here! He's gentle and loving with her. He sings softly to her when they're in the box together. There's no audio on the video, but look at this boy and his excitement! We've got 3 eggs now, she's due to lay another sometime today (she's been laying every other day in the evenings :) )

Monday marks the earliest day for us to start looking for hatchlings! Candled eggs last night and All 4 are developing nicely! Mr. Salt loves being on the eggs, he's always pushing Mrs. Pepper out of the way or nestling in with her to warm them together. <3

We have two babies- both white fluffballs and both look to have red eyes. There were 4 eggs, one stopped developing towards the end, the other hatched too early and hadn't absorbed yolk sack yet... Parents nicked it before I could remove baby :(. The remaining chicks were egg 1 and 4, I pulled them from the nest Sunday night. Parents were overfeeding and not letting crops empty. Babies were uncomfortable and peeping about it. They had air in their crops and the oldest one's crop was having trouble/slowing down. Oldest baby also was starting to look stunted and youngest looked like she was being injured. Got them set up in the brooder Sunday and was up all night (had a lot of homework to do!) We did pedialyte the first night to hydrate/keep them hydrated and help soften their crops for digestion. Monday morning they started on formula and are doing well! Oldest started getting pinfeathers in today as well <3

First and second images were the night I pulled them, 2nd photo was after crop massage, baby was content and snuggly. 3rd photo was yesterday, before their box was cleaned. They are not red skinned, that was my flash. They both do appear to have red eyes though!

My babies yesterday <3 They are doing very well with the formula. They know where the food comes from too. Every time I bring them out to eat they run for the bowl. The only problem with that is that I get them set on a paper towel because their feet go right out from under them on the wood itself! Hard to believe that it's been over a week since I pulled and started hand feeding them. Both of them have their pinfeathers in and the oldest's started opening up yesterday at her wingtips!
