I have an unknown # of baby cockatiels, born probably last nite .... and I'm wondering about temperature. It just started getting cold here (St. Pete, FL), and it was down to 65 deg. in the house last nite. I meant to set the thermostat to 70 but forgot (I wasn't aware of the babies till this morning). I'm now wondering how warm I need to keep the living room where the nesting box is, or can I get some kind of heater for the box, it's wooden about 20'' x 20'' x 25''...... ? I'm keeping the room 75 deg. during the day.

Hi!

When I bred tiels, I kept the newborns in a plastic container with a heater that measured 97 Fahrenheit.
Slowly drop the temp until 85, until they start to produce feathers. When they are strong enough, (and old enough), move them to a suitable cage, as plastic boxes aren't good for growing birds.
