Hello, I have a pair of cockatiels (introduction post here) and they are a bonded male and female (no eggs or breeding).

The female kept searching the house for nesting areas and biting us when we got too close to that area so we decided to create a nest in their cage.

We put a shoebox in the cage and it worked like a charm. The female goes in the box and sits in there for hours at a time while the male stands guard.

As far as nesting materials she usually uses her own feathers or will pick up pieces of paper if she can get her beak on it.

I was wondering if there were any other materials that people like to drop in their cages for their tiels that they might enjoy using for their nest?

Pine shavings are used mostly here in the states. Aspen is also good, cedar is a big no no.
