...So since I decided (or they did) that Ziggy should move in with Baby, I'll have one extra cage. I don't want to really just shove it in a closet..I was thinking of leaving it up but turning it into a general play area maybe..for them and the budgies...but that would mean still having three cages to clean...I'm not sure. To be honest, I've been delaying it because I feel really bad taking Baby's home away since she's lived by herself for three years. The last week she's slept by her choice in HIS cage (I found she's less mean when in his rather then him in hers)...I just don't know. Taking the cage away all together seems like a drastic move. They have these door perches they really love hanging out on separate...here is the pic of the setup. Any ideas/suggestions would help.

The budgies are in the last cage in the corner.

You shouldn't feel bad Aly, you did not force Ziggy on her it was her choice to sleep in his cage, they look like there getting along great I am sure Baby is happy to have someone share her space with after being alone so long if it was me I would remove the cage if its not used that much there is lots of room in the one cage and they are out of it so much seems like a waste to have it there. You could always put it away and have it for down the road

I would just remove the cage too. Especially as she's been choosing to sleep in his cage anyway. Remember birds can't think the same way we do, and she won't see it as you taking away her home and forcing her to live with another bird. They're flock animals, they prefer to have feathered company.

I would add another door perch to baby's cage and put the other one away for now.

just a random idea...
if you wanted to make her believe she 'chose' it, you could maybe get Ziggy's cage (or the one you want to still use...) and put is on something to make it a level or so higher... she is more likely to want to be in the higher one...and if you make it Ziggy's cage, she will probably just move in with him full time... location location location lol *cheese*

Yes, I do! I want to be a grandma !!! I have some stuff to do in the afternoon so I'll see how I feel later-will try to set it up today.
