We’ve had our cockatiel, Burt, for maybe two years. We don’t know how old he is and don’t have much history on him from his past owner, only that he had to be rehomed because his partner had passed and he needed a friend.
Burt was not really in perfect shape when we received him, he wasn’t hurting but his toes were slightly deformed and he didn’t have any flight feathers. We never thought much of it because he was seemed like a happy bird and figured his flight feathers just needed to grow in. It’s been two years and he still has no flight feathers, but once again, isn’t in pain and seems to be happy how he is. Is there any explanation to him not having any flight feathers? Could he have been born with some sort of genetic mutation that prevents them from growing? I’ve tried to find possible answers but have been unsuccessful so far. I would love some insight from other bird owners, thank you
